About Me

Hello, my amazing online family! I'm Dharshana, short for Saidharshana Dhantu. I earned my B.S. in Immunology and M.S. in Multidisciplinary Biomedical Sciences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and I'm now diving deeper into the medical field on my journey to becoming a public health physician. My passion for this path comes from a deep desire to understand and uplift my community, and I'm excited to share this journey with all of you. Together, we'll build a stronger, healthier community as we learn, grow, and support one another every step of the way! I realized that growing up, my family and friends faced numerous healthcare barriers. It wasn’t until I attended college and started serving my community in Alabama that I realized we weren't alone in these struggles. This blog is born from that realization. I aim to educate and inform my community and beyond about the healthcare disparities we commonly face. By highlighting these issues, I hope to empower individuals to understand their rights to quality healthcare and connect them with necessary resources.

In this blog, I will delve into the intricacies of our healthcare system, including how our healthcare system works, share my personal experiences, discuss common healthcare inequities, connect you with an online community of peers and medical professionals, and leverage advocacy with creativity. I'll also provide valuable resources to help you, your family, and others navigate the healthcare system, specific to Georgia.

This blog isn't just a platform for information—it's a space for building an online healthcare community, fostering support and understanding outside the clinical space. If you think about it, much of health care should be care OUTSIDE of the clinical space… by caring for our health in our homes and through our lifestyles. As much as this blog is for my community, it is also a learning journey for me. It will help me understand the challenges my future patients face and explore how I, along with others, can make a meaningful impact now and in the future.

By starting this blog, I aim to spark a conversation, drive change, and create a more informed and empowered community. Together, we can break down barriers and ensure everyone receives the healthcare they deserve. Let's embark on this journey towards better health and brighter futures, united in our commitment to equity and care.
